About

The first game of real-life quidditch was played nearly 13 years ago. For thousands of people, participating in the sport–whether as a player, volunteer, or official–was a formative part of their college years and beyond.

With each passing year, more people become quidditch alumni. Just like universities have alumni associations to raise funds for university programs and to keep alumni connected to their institution and community, we have started the Quidditch Alumni Association to do just that for the sport we love.

Our Mission

The mission of the Quidditch Alumni Association to facilitate the lifetime connection of former quidditch players and volunteers and raise money to stimulate the formation of new teams and cultivate the growth of the sport.

Funding Strategy

Growing and sustaining the sport of quidditch will require a variety of strategies and the coordination of multiple stakeholder groups: governing bodies, media, universities and schools, and municipalities. QAA aims to focus its funds into areas and projects with maximum impact and limited ability to fundraise through other means.

The QAA board of directors and members will determine how the funds raised will be distributed in service of our mission. Potential strategies include:

  • Outreach programs to develop new high school and/or college teams
  • Grants to support events that increase playing opportunities for lower ranked or recreational teams
  • Grants to support team travel to events
  • Support for event marketing and livestreaming

Join us

There is no required amount to join – we accept members at any donation level – but we have a minimum suggested donation of $25. The Quidditch Alumni Association is a nonprofit corporation currently filing to receive 501(c)(3) charity status.
